Liverpool great Steven Gerrard has criticised Reds supporters for comparing Mohamed Salah to Lionel Messi. Gerrard doesn’t believe it does either player justice to compare them.
Salah joined the Reds during the 2017 offseason transfer window from Roma. Salah has scored 22 goals in the Premier League this term. In all competitions, Salah has tallied 29 goals in 2017-18. He scored a brilliant juggling strike in Liverpool’s round of 16 first leg in over Porto.
Liverpool great Gerrard stressed during an appearance on BT Sport that Salah shouldn’t be compared to the Argentine.
“Liverpool have had too much aggression for Porto. They look like they can score every time they go forward,” Gerrard said.
“And we’ve seen a moment of magic from Mo Salah.
“It’s not fair to the kid to compare him to Messi.”
Salah has scored in each of his last five matches with Liverpool.
The Reds are competing for a top four spot in the Premier League along with the Champions League trophy.
