It preceded the Red Devils’ defeated on Monday night to Tottenham as the North London team romped to a 3-0 win. Now, many football insiders believe Mourinho is set to leave Manchester United.

Despite winning three trophies in his first season with Manchester United, Mourinho’s relationship with Ed Woodward and the club’s hierarchy has been strained. The manager has criticised the board over transfers and the club’s lack of spending.
It was reported during the summer transfer period that Manchester United’s board were unhappy with Mourinho’s spending. In addition, the board wants Mourinho to use the players at his disposal rather than spending large sums each offseason on new talent. The club’s purchase of Alexis Sanchez and his disappointing performances has been seen as one reason the club was reluctant to spend more money this summer.
Leading sportsbooks have listed Mourinho as the favourite to be sacked first this season. Mourinho has been in charge of the Red Devils for just over two years. It is often observed the manager finds difficulty in his third season. In each of Mourinho’s previous Premier League jobs and while managing Real Madrid, he suffered disappointment in his third year in the respective positions. Therefore, leaving Manchester United isn’t out of the question this season.

The pressure is mounting on Mourinho. Following the Red Devils’ loss to Tottenham, he showed his frustrations clashing with journalists in his post-match press conference. According to the Metro, Woodward met with Mourinho on Monday and gave his support to the under-fire manager.
While Woodward has given his support to Mourinho, some Red Devil supporters have expressed their desire for the manager to leave Manchester United.
Supporters continue to rage due to Manchester United’s poor attacking performances. In addition, Mourinho’s relationship with Paul Pogba and trying to play the star in a more defensive position has been a sticking issue with fans.
Some supporters have claimed Mourinho has lost the Manchester United dressing room.
