Tottenham could get injury boost ahead of Liverpool clash

Tottenham could have World Cup winning goalkeeper Hugo Lloris in their starting XI for Saturday’s top of the table clash with Liverpool. The French goalkeeper suffered an injury before the international break and missed Tottenham’s loss to Watford with a thigh problem. It was feared Lloris would miss out on the match at Wembley versus Liverpool. However, the shot-stopper could feature after all.

Tottenham are coming off of a 2-1 loss to Watford in their previous Premier League match. Lloris featured in Spurs three opening matches of the season. All of which ended in Spurs’ wins.

Lloris spoke to RMC in a recent interview about his return to the Tottenham starting XI.

“Do I have a return date? Not yet,” Lloris said. “We’re working hard to come back strong and as quickly as possible. ‘There’s perhaps a chance for this weekend, but we’ll see depending on how things go this week.”

Lloris’ back up Michael Vorm replaced Lloris in Tottenham’s loss to Watford.

Tottenham are sweating the fitness of two other players ahead of Saturday’s match against Liverpool. Dele Alli was withdrawn from the England squad with a muscle injury. Although a timescale wasn’t given, it is hoped Alli can feature from the start against the Reds as well.

Alli joins midfielder Moussa Sissoko on the Spurs’ injured list. The Frenchman has been recovering from a spate of hamstring injuries that initially began during Tottenham’s pre-season tour. Sissoko has recently posted a video about his ‘road to recovery’.

Totteham will host Liverpool on Saturday at lunchtime. A win would put Tottenham level on points with Liverpool.
