Liverpool goalkeeper Lorius Karius, who is currently on loan at Turkey’s Besiktas, has made another headline-grabbing blunder. Karius’ latest mistake occurred in Besiktas’ Europa League group stage match with Malmo on Thursday night as the Turkish giants lost 2-0.
Liverpool news: Besiktas on loan goalkeeper Lorius Karius makes another massive blunder
Karius misjudged a Malmo cross and let the ball go over his head and straight into the Besiktas goal. The goalkeeper attempted to bat the wayward pass over the crossbar. However, he mistimed his swat and the ball settled into the back of the Besiktas net.
The mistake is another in a growing list of blunders Karius has made since joining Besiktas in August.
Since his two mistakes that cost Liverpool the Champions League Final last May, things have gone from bad to worse for Karius.
Liverpool allowed Karius to join Besiktas in the summer after signing Alisson Becker from Roma. The Reds opted to retain the services of Simon Mignolet and make him Becker’s backup for the season rather than keep Karius.
While his mistake on Thursday night was significant, it was made worse due to Karius’ past blunders with Liverpool. It must be said, the goalkeeper has played well at times for Beskitas this term.
Feel bad for Loris Karius. Not having a good time by the looks of this pic.twitter.com/X21W02oCHx

Besiktas currently sit in third place in the Turkish top-flight with 14 points from 21 possible. The team’s defence has allowed just eight goals with Karius in net.

The team’s loss to Malmo in Sweden leaves them in a four-way tie in Europa League Group I on three points. Sarpsborg and Genk are also a part of Group I.
It is difficult to know if Karius as a future at Anfield. His loan spell at Besiktas has been overshadowed by mistakes in goal. It is more likely Liverpool will allow him to leave on a permanent deal following the season.
