Zinedine Zidane will not join Manchester United as Bayern Munich job looms

Former Real Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane may be the next manager of struggling Bundesliga team Bayern Munich. The German champions have fared poorly under new manager Niko Kovac in recent weeks. According to German media, Bayern are ready to sack Kovac after their embarrassing 3-0 loss to Borussia Monchengladbach on Saturday.

Zidane is one of three managers on Bayern’s wishlist. Former Arsenal manager Arsenal Wenger and former Paris Saint-German manager Laurent Blanc are also being considered.

After starting the season with six straight wins in all competitions, Bayern are winless in their last four games. The poor run includes two losses in the Bundesliga to Hertha Berlin and Borussia Monchengladbach, respectively. The two losses have seen Bayern outscored 5-0.

Bayern are currently sixth in the Bundesliga four points behind leaders Borussia Dortmund.

Zidane’s agent has spoken about his client’s desires to coach. Despite the constant links to Manchester United, Zidane’s agent said the manager isn’t interested in coaching the Red Devils.

“I do not think that he will coach in England,” Alain Migliaccio, Zidane’s agent told Le Journal du Dimanche. “It is not his style. I have discussed it with him. It is truthfully not appealing.”

According to Migliaccio, Zidane could be interested in managing former club Juventus. Zidane played for the Bianconeri from 1996 to 2001.

However, the agent also stated Zidane could be enticed by a club that matches his passion. The Champions League winner may join a club to build and improve over the long-term.

Despite Jose Mourinho being under fire at Old Trafford, Zidane isn’t likely to take up the reins of the club if the manager is sacked.

Will Jose Mourinho be sacked?

Over the weekend, news reports in England claimed Mourinho would be sacked if Manchester United didn’t beat Newcastle. Despite falling behind 2-0, the Red Devils made a second-half comeback to win 3-2.

It is claimed by the same media sources that stated Mourinho would be fired that Manchester United have now assured the manager that his job is safe.

According to conflicting news reports on Monday, Manchester United are still considering Zidane despite his agent’s claims. In addition, some of the Red Devil board are “split” over sacking Mourinho.
