3 Players Leicester City should consider signing to improve the squad

Leicester City are having a dream season in the Premier League and look good to qualify for the Champions League for 2020-21. Brendan Rodgers has done wonders at the club since joining from Celtic a year ago and the Foxes are on an upward trajectory.

Despite their great play this season, Leicester City have shown vulnerability at times. A loss to Aston Villa in the Carabao Cup semifinals and heavy defeats to Liverpool and Manchester City prove Leicester City needs to upgrade a few positions to fight for silverware next term.

Fantasysports.co.uk takes a look at 3 potential players that could land at Leicester City and score goals. Fantasy Premier League managers can explore just how these players could do at Leicester City under the management of Rodgers.

Odsonne Edouard – Celtic

Leicester City need another goalscorer to take the weight off of Jamie Vardy’s shoulders. Vardy has scored 17 times this season tallying 31% of Leicester City’s goals after 25 Premier League matches. When he hasn’t been on, it has been very noticeable. Although Kelechi Iheanacho has played well enough, another top goalscorer would improve the team’s attack. Celtic forward Odsonne Edouard is no stranger to Rodgers’ style of play having performed under the manager in Glasgow. Edouard has scored 20 goals in 25 matches and a move to England could be on the horizon. His contract at Celtic doesn’t expire until 2022.

Ismail Jakobs – Koln

Last summer, Leicester City sold Harry Maguire to Manchester United and despite claims the defence would struggle without the centre-back, the Foxes have been just fine. Could Rodgers cash in on Ben Chilwell to Chelsea or Manchester United and sign Koln’s rising star Ismail Jakobs without a hiccup? The left-back has impressed in the Bundesliga with two goals in nine league matches. His contract expires in 2021 and could be sold by Koln in the summer. The German team isn’t far off the relegation places and Jakobs could be sacrificed for financial reasons. The full-back’s goals figure in the Bundesliga is the same as Chilwell’s at Leicester City in the Premier League but in fewer games.

Ryan Fraser – Bournemouth

Bournemouth’s Ryan Fraser had an excellent season in 2018-19 but hasn’t been able to rekindle that form this term. The winger has scored just one goal and tallied three assists in 25 league matches for the Cherries. The soon-to-be 26-year-old will be available on a free transfer this summer making him potentially an excellent signing for the Foxes. Fraser could excel in Rodgers’ tactics with Vardy as the central attacker to convert the winger’s crosses. Fraser could also be a cheap alternative to James Maddison if he is sold to Manchester United. Fraser scored seven goals and tallied 14 assists in the 2018-19 season, which was the best return of his career. If he had better players around him (sorry Bournemouth), Fraser could have another career season in the Premier League.
