Massimiliano Allegri is one of the leading names to be the next Arsenal manager. The Italian tactician recently won his fourth straight Serie A title and speculation is growing that he will leave the Turin club to join Arsenal. However, Allegri looks ready to turn down the Gunners’ approach to stay with Juventus for another season.
Is manager Massimiliano Allegri staying at Juventus?
A number of Arsenal supporters want to see Allegri join the Gunners this summer. However, following Juventus’ title win on Sunday, the Italian may have thrown a spanner in the plans at the Emirates.
Speaking at his post-match press conference, Allegri stated he would like to stay at Juventus for another season.
“If they [Juventus’ directors] do not send me away, I think I will stay at Juve next year,” Allegri said. “Motivation is always there at Juventus.”
Since joining Juventus in 2014, Allegri has won four domestic titles and appeared in two Champions League finals. After being knocked out of the Champions League in the quarterfinals by Real Madrid, the club are hungry to return to the competition’s final next season.
Allegri alluded to Juventus already planning their summer player recruitment.
“Next year, there will be some players leaving, others arriving, and the objective will be to be in the running for every objective in March again,” Allegri said.
“You have to work on yourself and find the motivation within yourself too, setting personal targets as well as those for the group. ‘It’s a wonderful feeling, as it’s never easy to win.”
Allegri is leading sportsbooks’ favourite to takeover for Arsene Wenger at the Emirates. Manchester City assistant manager Mikel Arteta is also being linked. Former Arsenal striker Ian Wright recently stated Arteta is the best man for the job.
Meanwhile, Celtic’s Brendan Rodgers is also being linked with a move. Celtic previously stated they will not stand in the North Irishman’s way if the job is offered to him.
Should Arsenal offer Massimiliano Allegri the manager’s job or should it go to someone else? Have your say.
