Twitter reacts to Liverpool’s late win over Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League

Liverpool defeated Paris Saint-Germain in their first match in the Champions League, 3-2. The Reds took the lead after 30 minutes through Daniel Sturridge who started in the place of Roberto Firmino.

James Milner doubled Liverpool’s lead from the penalty spot six minutes later after Georginio Wijnaldum was failed by PSG’s Juan Bernat. The Parisians got on the board just before halftime through left-back Thomas Meunier.

Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool cruised through the second half with PSG creating very little. Kylian Mbappe finally levelled the scored on 83 minutes against the run of play. PSG’s superstar forwards Neymar and Mbappe did very little throughout the match with the former being completely anonymous through the second half.

The match looked destined for a draw until Liverpool’s Firmino, on as a second-half substitute, scored in the first minute of stoppage-time.

Liverpool’s win puts them atop the Group C after the match between Red Star Belgrade and Napoli ended nil-nil.

Where was Neymar?

While Liverpool found a late winner, questions have already been asked about the play of PSG star Neymar. The Brazilian went missing for large parts of the match and gave the ball away easily throughout. Neymar made just 31 passes during the match while taking two shots. He was dispossessed five times by Liverpool defenders.

Liverpool will travel to Italy to play Carlo Ancelotti’s Napoli on October 3rd in the Champions League. PSG will host Red Star the same day.

Klopp’s side will face PSG for the second time on November 28. The match will come on matchday 5 of the Champions League for both clubs.
