FPL : Where you can strike fantasy gold this weekend

Many an FPL team will be loading their starting line ups with as many Manchester City (home to Newcastle United) and Liverpool (away at Swansea City) players as is allowed….but here we look at other games which could yield FPL goals and maybe just fly under the radar.

LEICESTER CITY V WATFORD

These two teams have been pretty sensational from an FPL perspective outside of the top teams. Leicester boast players in the top ten of every FPL position, whilst Watford, who don’t seem to know the meaning of a clean sheet at either end of the pitch (only one 0-0 draw all season), have two of the most freescoring midfielders in Richarlison and Doucoure. The clash of these two at the King Power should throw FPL points all over the place with reckless abandon. We can see this producing goals aplenty….we would be starting Leicester players with confidence in most positions, with the two afore mentioned Watford midfielders, as well as their forwards, also very much worth a look. The Watford defence….maybe not so much.

WEST HAM UNITED V BOURNEMOUTH

Both teams are enjoying a good period of form – both unbeaten in four games and their games have generally produced goals. Indeed, a study of recent games between the two teams show that they are normally goal heavy affairs – the last five meetings between the two producing 23 goals. With them both clambering to relative mid table safety after very poor starts, we expect the game to be played with little pressure and again produce fireworks. We like Marko Arnautovic here, who now has 75 points on the season – but has gleaned 52 of these in his last six matches. He can keep this hot form going against the Cherries – but they will also be licking their lips, especially forward Callum Wilson, who has three goals in his last four games, with one of those coming against the Hammers in their recent 3-3 draw.

AVOID – STOKE CITY v HUDDERSFIELD TOWN

This match looks as desperate in the FPL world as it looks on paper, with both teams barely averaging a goal a game across the season, and both will be keen not to lose – this has a bore draw written all over it. You could argue its therefore worth starting defenders from either team – well possibly – but with other options available and also more likely to grab a goal or assist themselves, we advise to steer well clear of this game that could yet be played in the Championship next season.
