Fantasy Premier League managers sell Riyad Mahrez now

Fantasy Premier League managers need to sell Riyad Mahrez now, if they haven’t already. The Leicester City midfielder has gone rogue, and according to reports, has not spoken with the club since his move to Manchester City fell through.

Mahrez has been in great form this Premier League season. He is seventh in total points scoring in FPL, but his attitude since missing out on a move to the Etihad will keep him out of at least a second straight Premier League game.

Mahrez has tallied 137 points, and only costs a shockingly low £8.7. But his head was spun by Manchester City. He is now pouting that the move didn’t go through.

Since Wednesday night’s transfer window slammed shut, Mahrez has missed training. In total, he has missed four days of training and the team’s match against Everton.

It has cost him a fine of £200,000. Even if Mahrez returns by the end of February, which right now is unknown, the chances of him recovering the same form is questionable. Mahrez had played so well and nearly got his big move to Manchester City. It didn’t happen, so why would he put his all into playing for Leicester for the rest of the season?

Mahrez had tallied three double-digit games this term. While he hasn’t had huge single matchdays, Mahrez has been extremely consistent with his performances. Nine times this season he has tallied six or more points in a gameweek.

Manchester City’s bid for Mahrez only came in at the last minute. A £60 million offer was deemed £20m off the mark by Leicester. According to one report, Leicester believed they should receive more than Southampton got for Virgil van Dijk. The only problem was the team interested in Mahrez was Manchester City; who already have more capable, in-form attackers than Mahrez.

Leicester have no reason to keep a player that doesn’t want to be there. Especially, when Leicester would have made a profit of £59.5m on the player. If Mahrez had gone to Manchester City, FPL managers could have expect far more points from the Algerian. Now, FPL managers should sell Riyad Mahrez and try to make due with someone else in their starting XI.
