Monday nightmare football

fantasy football, fantasy sports, fpl, football, premier league

Monday night football, when one has wallowed for so long  in the championship and a while in Division One (yes I’m only a fan since the early eighties), is a little treat for us who live far away from Vicarage Road – or in this case God forsaken Turf moor!

An extra day’s hangover from another heavy and hard weekend.  Lovely!

My relief arrives early and I’m propped at the counter at exactly 7pm.  Forty five minutes in and this is a pure Liverpool love in, much to the delight of the recently installed bald barman.  Thanks Sky, you  give it and then you take it away.

Off we go, a lot of labouring, pulling and dragging, this ain’t going to plan. Last week we backed Watford at a juicy 9/2.  This week, I ain’t touching them with Sam Allerdyce’s money.  Kinda strange really, isn’t it?.

Its Turf moor for God’s sake! What the hell is going on? Well, hangover dealt with and in the cold light of day it dawns on me. We’re not ready/able for the favourite tag just yet.  Always better as “little old Watford” defying odds, two nil down away, home to Utd, etc etc.

Any positives from this game?

Heurelho, Isaac, and possibly Troy/Prodl and that’s it.

Britos had a mare, Cathcart?.

But it’s our midfield that sucks! Etienne where were you?  Valon, a real “Dennis the menace” type character this season and as for Pereyra?  Truth be told he should have could have been sent off.

Amrabat oh I don’t know? Come back quick Darl Janmatt, after Holebas (who I quite like) leaves Iggy…turning into a scapegoat which is sad in my view.  He has his own song at the Vic but becomes the villain so quickly.

At two nil down one of my cider guzzling comrades joked “would you take a draw now, Ken?”  No way, I believed if we got one we would get three!  Guinness can have strange effects.  We were never gonna score , plus I don’t believe Burnley were that  great, they stifled us, ran at us, harried us, exactly what we do, except we didn’t.

Our last two results may actually have contributed to this result, amazingly my subconscious prevented me from backing an 8/5 favourite.  Funny how the mind works, eh?

Next up is Bournemouth.  I really came to dislike them (nothing to do with having 500euros on us at 16/1 to win the championship).  That was some day against Sheff Wed. Let’s just say a lot of Strongbow was consumed in Odd fellows that evening!
