5 fantasy midfielders for gameweek 10

After nine Premier League gameweeks, Theo Walcott continues to lead all midfielders in Fantasy Premier League points accumulated. Despite scoring his fewest since gameweek 4 against Southampton (two), the Arsenal midfielder continues to shine in Fantasy Premier League.

Walcott has been a regular in the FantasySports.co.uk top 5 midfielders list this season. However, with a set of difficult fixtures on the horizon, will this be his last week in our top 5?

Theo Walcott – Arsenal

Game: 5; Assists: 2; Total FPL points: 58

With Arsenal travelling to Sunderland for gameweek 10, Theo Walcott is sure to make something happen. He may have only tallied three points against Middlesbrough, but Sunderland are awful and they haven’t won yet this season.

Walcott could have a big game down the right side. He is worth inclusion yet again this week in your fantasy team. However, you may think again during gameweek 11 and 12 as Arsenal play Spurs and Manchester United.

Xherdan Shaqiri – Stoke City

Games: 5; Goals: 3; Clean sheets: 3: Total FPL points: 32

Stoke look to have turned the corner and last week’s big 2-0 win over Hull was nearly all down to Xherdan Shaqiri. Two goals from the Swiss helped him tally 15 points, his most of the season and 12 more than in the previous gameweek.

Stoke haven’t lost in their last four and the Potters host Swansea on Monday night. It will be a chance for Shaqiri to excel against a team that has won just once this season. It is also a chance for the Swiss to shine on live television.

Eden Hazard – Chelsea

Games: 9; Goals: 4; Assists: 1; Total FPL points: 49

Chelsea have put their recent blip behind them and have put three consecutive Premier League wins together. The team have also kept three straight clean sheets.

Eden Hazard has put together back-to-back eight point gameweeks. He has been stellar over that stretch scoring in both games.

Next up is a trip to Southampton. The Saints have been good, but Chelsea have been better in recent weeks. Hazard should be the creative spark as Chelsea look to make it four straight wins.

N’Golo Kante – Chelsea

Games: 9; Goals: 1; Clean sheets: 4; Total FPL points: 26

He may not have scored a lot of points this season, but N’Golo Kante had a fantastic gameweek 9. The midfielder tallied eight points as he scored from open play and contributed 90 minutes to the team’s clean sheet.

Southampton is up next, and though Kante doesn’t typically score more than three points a game, he isn’t a bad selection based on price. At just £4.8 million, Kante is worth inclusion if your Fantasy Premier League team needs a bargain buy.

Philippe Coutinho – Liverpool

Games: 9; Goals: 4; Assists: 2; Total FPL points: 56

Philippe Coutinho was brilliant last weekend against West Brom. A goal and a clean sheet, Coutinho tallied 10 points.

Liverpool have a lovely set of games coming up and Coutinho – and several other Liverpool players – should be in your fantasy team. The Reds have, arguably, an easy set of fixtures until the end of December. Coutinho could see big returns over the next six to eight games.

Up next is Crystal Palace, a team that hasn’t won in their last two matches. At £8.4m, Coutinho will not break your fantasy bank.

Bonus midfielder

Yannick Bolaise – Everton

Games: 9; Goals: 1; Assists: 3; Total FPL points: 33

Yannick Bolaise has had solid back-to-back weeks. Gameweek 9 saw the midfielder score nine points despite Everton’s loss to Burnley.

Gameweek 10 sees Everton host West Ham. Although the Hammers have won two straight, Bolaise is in good form; and could propel the Toffees to all three points.
