5 FPL forward musts for gameweek 11

After a stellar gameweek 10, Romelu Lukaku has taken over the top spot in total points for forwards in Fantasy Premier League. This week, Lukaku’s Everton face off with second leading points getter Diego Costa’s Chelsea.

Both make our 5 FPL forward musts for gameweek 11 list, but who will join them?

Romelu Lukaku – Everton

Games: 9; Goals: 7; Assists: 3; Total FPL points: 67

You have to go with the hot hand, and Lukaku’s 12 points last week make him a shoe-in for this week’s top 5 fantasy forwards.

Everton play a stingy Chelsea defence, but Lukaku’s form is so good, he should help break that backline down if Everton are to get points.

Following their trip to Stamford Bridge, Everton’s fixture list gets a bit easier. Therefore, let the big man have a go at Chelsea and carry him on into your next set of fantasy fixtures.

Diego Costa – Chelsea

Games: 10; Goals: 8; Assists: 2; Total FPL points: 64

Despite his goal last week against Southampton, Costa only scored seven FPL points. That figure was a nice bounce back from gameweek 9’s return of two against Manchester United, however.

Costa, like Lukaku, will be up against a stingy defence. Everton have only given up eight goals this term compared to Chelsea’s nine. If you have to pick between the two strikers, it is hard to choose.

However, Costa is playing at home and he has an in-form Eden Hazard playing with him. Therefore, Costa should be the man to select in your team ahead of his Everton counterpart.

Sergio Aguero – Manchester City

Games: 8; Goals: 7; Assists: 1; Total FPL points: 55

Last week, we at FantasySports.co.uk, thought Sergio Aguero’s teammate Kelechi Iheanacho was a good choice for your Fantasy Premier League team.

Aguero got the nod ahead of the Nigerian and absolutely tore West Brom apart. Perhaps our selection of Iheanacho lit a fire inside the Argentine.

Aguero accumulated 16 points in gameweek 10. It was his best output since gameweek 6 against Swansea. In the three fixtures in between, Aguero scored a mere two points.

Manchester City’s next three fixtures should see the Citizens cruising to victory and Aguero could close the gap on Lukaku and Costa.

Jermain Defoe – Sunderland

Games: 10; Goals: 5; Total FPL points: 49

Jermain Defoe burnt us the last time he made our top 5 forwards list. It is shocking that the England forward has the fourth most points by forwards in FPL this season with 49. However, that proves that goal scoring midfielders are more important than picking overpriced forwards.

Defoe is Sunderland’s only bright spot and has scored nearly a quarter of the team’s goals. Sunderland have a relatively winnable set of fixtures upcoming. I know that is hard to believe since they are winless this season, but it is true.

The Black Cats go to Bournemouth and host Hull in back-to-back gameweeks. Whether the team will win, it is hard to say, but if they score goals, Defoe could be the man slotting them home.

Wilfried Bony – Stoke City

Games: 7; Goals: 2; Total FPL points: 25

When we put Wilfried Bony in our team a few weeks back, it was slightly premature. However, the Stoke City forward is now coming into form.

Bony accumulated 13 points in gameweek 10, which was 11 more than in his previous six matches.

Stoke’s upcoming run of fixtures is very winnable: West Ham, Bournemouth, Watford and Burnley. Four wins, excellent forward play from Bony and fans will forget how bad Stoke were at the beginning of the season.

Bony’s price is sure to go up further, although he is still only £7.3 million. He is in-form, so get him in your side.

Bonus forward

Sam Vokes – Burnley

Games: 10; Goals: 3: Clean sheets: 3; Total FPL points: 35

If you are in need of a cheap option off the bench that can score a few goals now and again, look no further than Sam Vokes this week.

For an unfancied player at an unfancied team, Vokes has done well this term in FPL. He has averaged five points in each of his last three gameweeks and this week sees Burnley play a struggling Crystal Palace.

If you are in need of cover for injuries or another body on the bench, Vokes is your man for the next few weeks.
