Arsenal are after Inter Milan midfielder Marcelo Brozovic, but face stiff competition from Manchester United and Chelsea in the hunt for the player.
The 24-year-old has impressed many during his year and a half stay at Inter despite the black and blue continually being a disappointment. According to reports from Italy, Brozovic has a £43 million release clause; a staggering amount for a player that is being rated by one website at less than £20m.
Brozovic played 23 times for Inter in Serie A last term, as the club finished seventh in the league. Inter are in need of selling players to get in line with Financial Fair Play rules ahead of the coming season, and the sale of Brozovic could enable that.
In March, a potential sale of Brozovic was floated to the media by the player’s agent.
“It’s true, there’s talk about it again like there was last summer,” Miroslav Bicanic stated.
“These rumours have no effect on Marcelo though, right now he’s completely focused on Inter.
‘There’s a €50m (£43m) release clause in his contract, and if another club comes to the Nerazzurri with that money, then Inter have no right to make a counter-offer.”
The Croatian joined Inter in January 2015 from Dinamo Zagreb on loan. The move was made permanent last summer with Inter paying a total fee £6.8m (transfer and loan fee combined). Arsenal are hoping to add to their midfield options, but competition from Premier League rivals could prevent the deal from happening.
