The PSG defender had been linked with a transfer to Manchester United for some time, but it looks like Spurs have beaten their Premier League rivals to his signature.

The right-back will be the official replacement for Kyle Walker, who left Tottenham earlier this transfer window for Manchester City.

L’Equipe states Spurs have agree to pay £20 million for the Ivorian defender. Last season, Aurier played 22 matches for PSG and recorded three assists in Ligue 1. He also tallied 2.2 tackles per match.

Despite Aurier’s talent, the player came under heavy criticism when he was reprimanded in 2016 after calling teammate Angel Di Maria a “clown” on social media. He also made a homophobic slur about then-manager Laurent Blanc and striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic. PSG suspended the right-back after the incident.

Serge Aurier 2016-27 key stats:

  • 2.2 tackles in 22 Ligue 1 matches
  • 3 assists in 22 Ligue 1 matches
  • 3 yellow cards in Ligue 1
