The 23-year-old winger arrived at PSG in January 2017 from Wolfsburg for £36 million, and immediately made an impact for the club. Draxler played 25 matches for PSG, scoring 10 goals in all competitions.

However, the arrival of Neymar has resulted in Draxler being unhappy with his role at the club. According to the Metro, Draxler has already been offered to Barcelona by the Ligue 1 club.

Arsenal are hoping to sign Draxler despite PSG offering him to the Catalan club. While Arsenal have a number of attacking options, Draxler would add more depth and competition for places in the starting XI. If Arsenal lose Alexis Sanchez in this transfer window or next summer for free, Draxler could be his ready-made replacement.

Arsenal had been speaking with French side Monaco about the signature of winger Thomas Lemar, which has gone back and forth. Thus far, Monaco has been unwilling to let the French international go. The Gunners have also mulled over the signing of Leicester City’s Riyad Mahrez, but Leicester have not wavered from their £50m valuation of the Algerian.

With Barcelona focused on signing Philippe Coutinho, Arsenal could beat them to the signature of Draxler.
