Liverpool have suddenly come to life in the transfer market with the £35 million signing of Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain from Arsenal. Now the Reds are ready to splash £19.3m on Roma’s Emerson Palmieri.

The Brazilian-born, Italian national is said to be ready for a switch and is extremely interested in moving to Liverpool. Currently recovering from a knee injury, Emerson is an attacking left-back that would compete with Liverpool’s Alberto Moreno for the starting position.

The Reds could send Moreno in the opposite direction to land Emerson, but it is currently unknown if Roma are interested in the Reds’ defender. Roma have overhauled their squad this season since the arrival of famed sporting director Monchi from Sevilla.

Liverpool do have the option of playing James Milner and Joe Gomez at left-back if the team are unable to land the Roma player.

The defender was signed officially by Roma in December 2016 after being on loan at the club for 18 months. The capital club paid less than £2m for Emerson’s signature. The player’s pace and ability to join in the attack is thought to be two of the key reasons Liverpool are negotiating the player’s signature today.
