Chelsea’s Eden Hazard to join Real Madrid next summer

Chelsea’s Eden Hazard is once again being linked with a transfer to Real Madrid. Hazard’s current Chelsea contract runs until 2020, but he looks likely to be one of Zinedine Zidane’s first signing next July.

Real Madrid were uncharacteristically quiet during the offfseason transfer window. The club attempted to sign Kylian Mbappe from Monaco, but the Spanish side lost out. Other than that move, Madrid spent most of their summer moving players away from the club rather than bringing them in.

It is now believed Real Madrid will overhaul their squad in the summer of 2018, and Hazard is the first name on the club’s list of transfer targets. Juventus’ Paulo Dybala and Borussia Dortmund’s Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang are also among the most highly sought after players on Madrid’s transfer list.

Madrid have started the season in poor form, drawing their last two fixtures. The club are currently eighth having secured just five points from nine. Supporters have been incredibly anger with the team due to the recent injury to Karim Benzema and the team’s lack of striker replacements. Zidane has reportedly told his players they have until Christmas to turn things around or he will bring in new players.

Hazard has long been rumoured to join Real Madrid, but an ankle injury possible derailed that move over the summer. Hazard joined Chelsea in 2012 from French team Lille for £31.5 million. Since arriving at Chelsea, the Belgian has tallied 72 goals and 62 assists in 251 games.
