Is Carlo Ancelotti to replace Arsene Wenger?

Carlo Ancelotti has decided against signing for another club this season following his sacking by German giants Bayern Munich.

Ancelotti, a three-time Champions League winner, has already been linked with a number of clubs. However, he has decided to stay a free agent for now.

A return to Italy

Ancelotti was rumoured for a likely return to AC Milan. A former Milan player, he managed the Rossoneri to two Champions League titles, one Serie A title and a Coppa Italia trophy. Since leaving the club in 2009, success has been fleeting for Milan.

Mediaset claims the manager will not be joining Milan as a replacement for Vincenzo Montella, however. The television channel believes Ancelotti is interested in taking over Arsenal. However, he will only take over the team if Arsene Wenger leaves next summer.

A return to England

Ancelotti spent two seasons coaching Chelsea in the English Premier League. He guided the Blues to a league and cup double in his debut season. Ancelotti was sacked, however, following his second season with the team. Chelsea went the season season without winning a trophy.

The manager was linked to Everton following the Toffees 2-2 Europa League draw in midweek. Everton manager Ronald Koeman has been under increasing pressure. Fans have shared their desire to see Ancelotti get the job at Goodison Park and to turn the team’s fortunes around.

Currently, it looks likely that Arsenal are the only club that could tempt the manager back into coaching this season.
