Liverpool FC are looking to tie up one of their recent transfer success stories to a longer term contract, with Roberto Firminho the recipient of this reward, reports the Liverpool Echo via MSN.
Firminho took a while to settle in at Anfield, after arriving from German outfit Hoffenheim with a £29m price tag around his shoulders. Few had heard of the Brazilian, but he has won over the Liverpool fans and has bagged an impressive 27 goals with 25 assists from his 101 Liverpool appearances, becoming a now regular player in Jurgen Klopp’s starting XI.
Firminho, 26, is already under contract at Anfield until the 2019/20 season, but it seems likely that Liverpool will look to secure his services for the long term and ward off potential predators by extending that contract sooner rather than later. Having taken the famous number 9 jersey also, Firminho looks set to be the regular Liverpool centre forward for seasons to come – as long as he can continue to produce the goals and performances that have brought him the success and accolades and – hopefully – be instrumental in Liverpool’s fight to establish themselves at the top of English football again.
