Chelsea fans were stunned to hear that Brazilian play maker Oscar was joining Chinese Super League outfit Shanghai SIPG during last season – but will be delighted to hear that he is already looking forward to a return to the Premier League, with Chelsea the only team for him, reports the Daily Mail.
Chelsea received £52m for the diminutive attacking midfielder, who also picked up a contract worth a staggering £400k per week from his new Chinese employers. But, in an interview given to Premier League Brasil, he is quoted as saying :
“Yes, I would go back! I’m still young, I’m 26. Who knows in two, three years to return to the Premier League… I would be very happy. And preferably for Chelsea, who opened the door for me to return”
Oscar goes on to wax lyrical about his former club, although he maintains it was the right decision to leave when he did.
The news, albeit potentially several seasons down the line, will be of some consolation to Chelsea fans, who have seen their beloved club struggle in the transfer market since Oscar departed, and though they have started both their Premier League and Champions League campaigns well enough, the feeling is that they are short of the quality needed to defend their Premier League title or mount a serious assault on Europe – especially with the news that striker Alvaro Morata is out injured – although it does not seem the injury is as bad as first expected.
Chelsea fans will keep an eye on how Oscar does in his Asian adventure, and hope it will not be too long before he is seen entertaining the Premier League and the Stamford Bridge faithful with his prodigious talents.
