Thomas Lemar transfer saga ready to start all over again

The Thomas Lemar transfer saga is ready to start all over again. The Monaco winger was linked with Arsenal and Liverpool in August. More recently, he was a target of Manchester United. The French international was on the verge of signing for Arsenal in August, but backed out at the 11th hour. Now the Lemar transfer saga is about to take a new twist.

Both Arsenal and Liverpool have been linked with Lemar, but according to Monaco chief Vadim Vasilyev, the French team aren’t willing to sell in January. The news will come as a shock to Arsenal and Liverpool supporters. Both sets of fans have been eager for their side to add Lemar.

Monaco want £90 million for Lemar, but that figure has been scoffed at by the Premier League sides.

Vasilyev recently spoke about Lemar and the club’s reluctance to part ways with him this winter.

“The sales of important players is not on the agenda,” Vasilyev said.

“We have never spoken [to Lemar or his entourage] about the possibility of a January departure.”

Monaco sold numerous players during the offseason transfer window. However, Lemar has long been considered off limits to other clubs.

With the way Lemar’s on again, off against transfer went in the summer, it is difficult to believe neither Arsenal nor Liverpool will attempt a move. Despite Vasilyev’s claims of not selling important players, it looks as though the Lemar transfer saga will rumble on for a second straight window.

Fantasy impact

Lemar has the skills and ability to tally a large amount of points in fantasy football. However, going to Liverpool would most likely see him fighting for a place in the side rather than putting up big numbers. It is more likely Lemar will have a bigger impact at Arsenal. Depending on Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez leaving or not, Lemar could have a major impact on FPL if he was the main creator at the Emirates.
