Is Arsenal’s Mesut Ozil desperate to sign for Manchester United?

Arsenal attacking midfielder Mesut Ozil has been linked with a move to Manchester United in the summer. The Arsenal player is out of contract and has stood at an impasse with the Gunners over a new deal.

According to the Express, Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho believes Ozil is “desperate” to join the Red Devils.

Reports have also emerged that Mourinho will attempt to sign Arsenal forward Alexis Sanchez, who is also out of contract in the summer. Sanchez is being heavily linked with Mourinho’s rival Pep Guardiola and Manchester City. Therefore, he could lose out on the Chilean.

Ozil previously played for Mourinho at Real Madrid. The two have a close relationship, and Ozil would have a regular place in Manchester United’s starting XI.

Mourinho is expected to sell player Henrikh Mkhitaryan as the manager and player have not seen eye to eye since the attacker’s benching. Ozil would assume the role previously given to Mkhitaryan.

Fantasy impact – Mesut Ozil

Ozil is currently sixth in Fantasy Premier League scoring for Arsenal. He has tallied 81 points and costs a whopping £9.3. FPL managers are paying for potential. Ozil has plenty of 1 and 2 point matches this term, but masked those with three double-digit games. His FPL play has been incredibly frustrating. Under Mourinho, it’s hard to say if Ozil would score more points or fewer. Manchester United play quite defensively, but a host of good attacking talent could increase Ozil’s chances of points.
