Liverpool will play Real Madrid in the tournament’s final after knocking out Roma in the semifinals. The Reds players will be due large financial bonuses if they win the Champions League final, according to Spanish website Marca.

Each player will earn €200,000, if the Reds are successful in beating Madrid in Kiev. A win would give Liverpool their sixth European Cup and first since 2005 when the club defeated AC Milan on penalties.

The English club had already made €6.5 million for advancing to the quarterfinal stage. Liverpool would also be due €15.5m from the UEFA rewards pot with a win. The club could receive a large influx of cash and allow Jurgen Klopp to spend money on new players. Liverpool could fund a transfer campaign that would enable the club to fight for a Premier League title in 2018-19.

The Reds’ task in Kiev won’t be easy. Madrid coach has never lost a Champions League knockout match since taking over the hot seat at the Santiago Bernabeu.

According to Marca, Real Madrid’s recent success in Champions League finals have seen the Spanish club part with large player bonuses. The website stated Real Madrid paid their players an estimated €71m in bonuses after last season’s triumph.

Each Real Madrid player received a €2m cheque from the club following the 2017 final against Juventus. Liverpool’s players will make a fraction of that amount if they win the European Cup.

Liverpool began their Champions League campaign against Hoffenheim in the third round qualifying stage. If the Reds cannot beat Real Madrid in the final and book an automatic place in next year’s tournament, Liverpool will once again start the competition in the third round qualifying stage.
