Watford defender Kiko Femenia has suddenly burst onto the scene in Fantasy Premier League. The 27-year-old right-back has tallied 18 points in his last two matches. Watford’s 3-0 win over Huddersfield a week ago saw the Spaniard tally 12 points. It followed his six-point output against Wolverhampton Wanderers the previous week. But it has raised the question amongst many FPL managers: Who is Kiko Femenia?
Who is Watford defender Kiko Femenia?
Femenia joined Watford on a free transfer in July 2017. He had spent the two previous season playing for Spain’s Alaves. The right-back helped the team earn La Liga promotion in 2016 by tallying five goals in 38 games in the Segunda.
After a season with Alaves in the Spanish top-flight, he was allowed to leave on a free and Watford snapped him up. The Hornets’ scouting department has been very good since the Pozzo family took charge and Femenia looks like another astute signing.
Last season, Femenia appeared in 23 Premier League games tallying 65 FPL points.
The Spanish right-back had barely appeared for Watford until gameweek 8 when he played all 90 minutes against Bournemouth. It was his first full match all season and the first time he had played more than 20 minutes in a single game.
Since Watford’s game against Bournemouth, Femenia has played a full 90 minutes in three straight gameweeks. He is in tremendous form and Javi Gracia should have his name on the teamsheet in gameweek 11 against Newcastle.
Kiko Femenia is a bargain buy
Femenia is a bargain buy at just £4.2 million. According to the official FPL website, just 0.7 percent of FPL managers own Femenia currently. His addition could be the deciding factor in results for gameweek 11.
Newcastle’s attack is struggling and they have failed to score in four out of five matches. Watford have tallied back to back clean sheets. With Newcastle unable to score goals this season, Watford could get their third straight shutout.
