5 Premier League midfield dynamos for GW7

The next international break is nearly upon us as Premier League gameweek 7 will usher in a week of the top players from club football heading to their international sides.

Last week saw a rise in quality for several of the English Premier League’s top midfielders, giving fantasy managers a conundrum of who to pick this time out. Of course, you have got to go with the in form players.

Let us see who makes FantasySports.co.uk’s midfield for gameweek 7.

Mesut Ozil – Arsenal
Games: 5; Goals: 2; Assists 0

Despite playing well for Arsenal this season, Mesut Ozil hadn’t taken flight until last week’s man of the match performance against Chelsea. Sure, Alexis Sanchez got all the plaudits, but Ozil ranked highest in WhoScored.com’s match ratings.

The German tallied a brilliant goal during the Gunners’ win at the Emirates. This week they travel to Burnley to take on a side that has conceded eight goals this season.

The Gunners should be good value, and Ozil should start putting more goals and assists on the board. An expensive, but worthy additional to your Fantasy Premier League midfield, Ozil should play well at Turf Moor.

Son Heung-Min – Tottenham
Games: 3; Goals: 4; Assists: 1

Despite playing three of Tottenham’s six matches, Son Heung-Min scores goals. The midfielder scored twice last week against Middlesbrough in Spurs’ 2-1 win. He even scored in Spurs’ 1-0 Champions League triumph over CSKA Moscow in midweek.

Although he is in excellent form, keep in mind that Spurs host Manchester City in the big match of the weekend. Son’s addition to the team may not be automatic, and his effectiveness against City, compared to Stoke or Middlesbrough, maybe minimal.

Add Son to your fantasy football team at your own risk. He could come up trumps, yet he could end up in the dumps.

Adam Lallana – Liverpool
Games: 6; Goals: 3; Assists 3

With two goals and two assists in his last three Liverpool matches, Adam Lallana is playing his best football yet for the club.

Against Hull last week, Lallana scored once and assisted two goals. His form warrants a place in you Fantasy Premier League team.

Liverpool travel to Swansea in Saturday’s early fixture. The Reds are flying their highest yet under Jurgen Klopp. Lallana should continue his brilliant form. Possibly expensive for your fantasy team, but he should come good on Saturday.

Michail Antonio – West Ham
Games: 6; Goals: 5; Clean sheets: 1

Michail Antonio is a player that has been on the cusp of the FanatasySports.co.uk’s top 5 midfielder list for sometime. Currently the joint top goal leader in the Premier League, Antonio is a midfielder and defender who is a bit of an anomaly.

Extremely athletic, but not very skillful, he is a player that will run all day and isn’t afraid to take on defenders. Antonio had a three match run in which he scored four goals just a few weeks ago. Despite West Ham being in the relegation zone, he has been a bright spot.

This week West Ham host Middlesbrough in an early six pointer. He is good value to get a goal or an assist in this one.

However, his price should be quite a bit higher after a five goal output. If it is, stay away from him and look elsewhere. However, if you are looking for a dark horse and have money to spend, give Antonio a go.

Juan Mata – Manchester United
Games: 5; Goals: 2; Assists: 1

Juan Mata wasn’t suppose to get much playing time under Jose Mourinho, and many Manchester United experts thought he would have been sold by now. However, Mata has played an important part in United’s early season.

Last week, Mata added a goal and an assist in the Red Devils’ mauling of champions Leicester City. This week, Mata and company take on second bottom Stoke City at Old Trafford.

It shouldn’t be too difficult for Manchester United to get all three points. Mata should be pulling the strings for Manchester United and your Fantasy Premier League team will obtain even more points.

Bonus midfielder

Eden Hazard – Chelsea
Games: 6; Goals: 2; Assists: 0

Chelsea are winless in their last three Premier League fixtures. Some may see Hazard’s inclusion as crazy based on the team’s form, however, it is far from insane.

Chelsea travel to Hull for this weekend’s match, and Antonio Conte’s men will be hungry to make a statement against the Tigers. Prior to the team’s three match winless streak, Hazard had been in tremendous form, which hasn’t been helped by his teammates’ recent poor play.

Hull are winless in their last three after starting the season on fire. In fact, Hull have given up nine goals in their last two Premier League games. Hazard and Chelsea will come good this weekend, and despite his price tag, should pay your Fantasy Premier League team back in valuable points.
