English Premier League gameweek 14 preview

English Premier League gameweek 14 is headlined by Manchester City hosting Chelsea. Pep Guardiola’s men are one point behind their London rivals and have won three of their last four.

Chelsea come into Saturday’s early kick-off tied for the league’s top defence. The Blues have only given up 10 goals in 2016-17, the same number as Tottenham, who Chelsea dispatched last weekend.

Last time Chelsea visited the Etihad Stadium, Manchester City throttled them 3-0. This time around the Blues are much stronger under Antonio Conte. Eden Hazard was far from in-form a year ago and the club’s defence has been stellar.

Sergio Aguero is in good form for Manchester City after striking twice a week ago.

English Premier League gameweek 14 should have a direct impact on the title race for this season.

Tottenham vs. Swansea

Last time out, Swansea picked up their first win under manager Bob Bradley in a wild 5-4 affair with Crystal Palace. Swansea are still two points from safety.

Unfortunately, Swansea’s record against Tottenham over their last six matches is appalling. Spurs have won five of their last six.

Tottenham have only lost once this term and should get back to winning ways in English Premier League gameweek 14.

Crystal Palace vs. Southampton

Alan Pardew is still in the job at Selhurst Park, but his future at Crystal Palace is hanging by a thread. Southampton took the teams’ last two fixtures in all competitions and could push the manager out the door by weekend’s end.

Charlie Austin is in excellent form for the Saints and has scored half (six) the teams goals this term (12). Southampton are joint second in fewest goals scored, however.

Palace’s defence has been poor thus far in 2016-17. The team has shipped 17 goals in their last five fixtures. Expect Southampton to score in English Premier League gameweek 14.

West Ham vs. Arsenal

Arsenal make the trip to the London Stadium for Saturday’s late fixture. The Hammers are a mere three points ahead of the relegation zone, while Arsenal are flying high.

Arsenal are undefeated in their last 12 fixtures this season. Alexis Sanchez’s in excellent form for the Gunners after a two goal performance last weekend.

Unfortunately for Gunners’ supporters, Arsenal were unable to win against West Ham in both meetings last season.

Bournemouth vs. Liverpool

Liverpool may be without Philippe Coutinho, but the team will have Joel Matip, Adam Lallana and Roberto Firmino back from injury against Bournemouth this weekend.

The Reds have won all five fixtures between the two sides dating back to 2014. Moreover, Liverpool have won eight of their last 10 matches in the Premier League.

Liverpool have scored the most goals in the Premier League (32) and have dominated their last two fixtures with 2-0 wins.

Bournemouth’s Nathan Ake had a good month of November, making WhoScored.com’s team of the month. The defender has only played four times this term, however. Will he play in English Premier League gameweek 14?

Everton vs. Manchester United

Everton take on Manchester United in a battle of sixth versus seventh. Jose Mourinho’s team have dominated the last four fixtures between the sides.

However, Manchester United have stuttered in the Premier League this season and have drawn their last two fixtures.

Everton have cooled following a hot start the league season. The Toffees have lost three of their last six, including last weekend’s 1-0 loss to Southampton.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic has quietly returned to form in the last month, tallying five goals in his last four matches in all competitions. The big Swede has seven goals this term.

In contrast, Everton’s Romelu Lukaku has found the back of the net hard to come by lately. The Belgian striker has not scored in Everton’s last three fixtures.
