Gameweek 23 FPL midfielders to draft in

Gameweek 23 will kickoff a busy midweek of Fantasy Premier League and the next set of fixtures will be on you in no time. Tottenham’s Dele Alli leads the way in gameweek 23 FPL transfers, but does the Spurs’ midfielder make our top five this week? Yes, he does…

Dele Alli – Tottenham

Games: 21; Goals: 11; Total FPL points: 127

What is not to love about Alli? He came up big again as Spurs drew 2-2 with Manchester City in gameweek 22. His star continues to rise and he is being linked to Real Madrid this transfer window. Could he be another Spurs player to leave for Los Blancos?

Tottenham’s upcoming fixture list is full of points potential. Not only can Alli excel, but so can the rest of Spurs’ top players.

Alexis Sanchez – Arsenal

Games: 22; Goals: 15; Total FPL points: 162

If it isn’t broke, don’t fix it. That is the motto we are sticking to for gameweek 23 as Alexis Sanchez – FPL’s points leader – once again makes our top five. Currently tied for the Premier League lead in goals, Sanchez’s penalty at the death in gameweek 22 broke Burnley’s heart.

Arsenal’s upcoming fixtures are packed with opportunity for Sanchez to continue is run of form. Watford is next with Chelsea to follow. Last time Sanchez faced Chelsea he tallied 14 points. Not too bad.

Roberto Firmino – Liverpool

Games: 21; Goals: 8; Total FPL points: 112

Without Roberto Firmino, where would Liverpool be? The midfielder has scored the Reds second most goals this term with eight. Only Sadio Mane has more (nine) and he is away at the Africa Cup of Nations.

Firmino scored twice against Swansea in gameweek 22, a game Liverpool heavily underestimated their opponents in. Firmino’s opener came from a sublime James Milner cross he headed home. The second was a gorgeous strike on the half-volley after the Brazilian had chested down a cross.

Liverpool begin a sticky patch in gameweek 23 with Chelsea at Anfield. Despite the Reds winning the first encounter, they need to return to what worked so well earlier this season, if they want to defeat the league leaders.

Kevin De Bruyne – Manchester City

Games: 21; Goals: 3; Total FPL points: 109

Every time it looks like a Manchester City player is about to take off in FPL, they come back to ground in flames. Kevin De Bruyne is a perfect case in point. The Premier League assists leader (nine) had failed to score more than three FPL points in four consecutive games until gameweek 22’s sudden 13 point performance.

A goal and an assist helped the midfielder finally break out of an FPL slump that has engulfed his entire team. With the potential for big point returns in the next three fixtures, De Bruyne could finally go from FPL bust to FPL hero in no time.

Darren Fletcher – West Brom Albion

Games: 22; Goals: 2; Total FPL points: 64

Ignore the 64 points and the repeated two point performances, Darren Fletcher makes our top five after a fantastic 10 point performance against Sunderland.

The Baggies are in the midst of a great run of fixtures and the team is solid; stop ignoring their players as this is the “under the radar” team of 2016-17.

Middlesbrough, Stoke, West Ham, Bournemouth and Crystal Palace are all up next. If Fletcher can continue his form, you better watch out.
