Simon Mignolet made amends for an early mistake in Liverpool’s English Premier League clash with Chelsea in gameweek 23, helping the Reds escape with a 1-1 draw.

Mignolet was caught out on David Luiz’s thunderous first half free-kick, which gave the Blues the lead. Unaware Luiz was ready to take the free-kick, Mignolet was left flat footed as the defender’s goal settled into Liverpool’s net.

The Reds, who were second best in the first half, started the second period much better. Jurgen Klopp’s men finally broke down Chelsea’s defence in the 56th minute when Giorgio Wijnaldum headed home just inside the penalty area.

Chelsea’s Diego Costa had the chance to win it for the Blues late on after Joel Matip took the Spaniard down in the box. Mignolet guessed correctly, however, diving to his right to make the save. Gameweek 23’s big English Premier League match ended 1-1, and the Blues are still nine points ahead of second place Tottenham.

Arsenal 1-2 Watford

Watford took a shock 2-0 lead after just 13 minutes at the Emirates thanks to goals from Younes Kaboul and Troy Deeney.

Walter Mazzarri’s side were good value throughout, but the Gunners piled on pressure late. Arsenal scored just before the hour-mark through Alex Iwobi. His goal was set up by Fantasy Premier League leader Alexis Sanchez.

The Gunners couldn’t find the equaliser, however. The team sit nine points behind Chelsea in the English top-flight.

Sunderland 0-0 Tottenham

Sunderland and Tottenham ended scoreless at the Stadium of Light. Spurs had the majority of possession at 72%, but Sunderland’s defence held firm throughout.

Spurs sit nine points back of Chelsea in the English Premier League and face Middlesbrough next.

West Ham 0-4 Manchester City

Manchester City ran rampant at the London Stadium beating West Ham 4-0. The Blues had the match sealed by the half after goals from Kevin De Bruyne, David Silva and Gabriel Jesus. Midfielder Yaya Toure added a penalty after the hour-mark.

Manchester United 0-0 Hull

Despite keeping 67% of the ball, Manchester United were held by Hull to a nil-nil score line. Hull goalkeeper Eldin Jakupovic was called into action to make six saves during the game, while David De Gea made two of his own. De Gea is third in English Fantasy Premier League goalkeepers total scoring.

Hull nearly snatched the win at late on when Lazar Markovic hit the woodwork.
