Gameweek 32 is in the books, although there is the little matter of Crystal Palace and Arsenal on Monday night, and a number of fantasy players rose to the forefront during the weekend’s action. Meanwhile, many more players shrunk to the background and it is anyone’s guess if we will hear from those players again this season.
Looking back over gameweek 32, it is time to reflect on the true fantasy winners and losers of the weekend.
Fantasy Winners
Heung-Min Son – Tottenham
Total FPL points: 134; GW 32: 19 points
After Heung-Min Son’s performance against Watford, fantasy managers have gone crazy adding the South Korean to their teams. It could be too little, too late. Son has only tallied four double digit fantasy games this season and Saturday’s win was the second time he hit 19 points in 2016-17.
Spurs’ players have the potential to score big points in the next two match days against Bournemouth and Crystal Palace as the team try to make more of a dent on Chelsea’s lead.
Romelu Lukaku – Everton
Total FPL points: 199; GW 32: 13 points
Romelu Lukaku bounced back after his non-existent performance against Liverpool to power Everton past Leicester. His 13 point haul was his ninth double digit gameweek of the season. His 23 goals lead the Premier League and with Burnley up next, expect his form to continue.
Zlatan Ibrahimovic
Total FPL points: 163; GW 32: 12 points
We warned you. We said to draft Zlatan Ibrahimovic and make him your captain against Sunderland in gameweek 32. The Swede tallied 12 points as he scored and added an assist. Ibrahimovic has tallied 27 points combined in his two matches against Sunderland this term.
Fantasy Losers
Gylfi Sigurdsson – Swansea
Total FPL points: 152; GW 32: 2 points
The bloom is off the rose as Gylfi Sigurdsson and Swansea are in a tailspin. Everything great the club were doing just a month ago is now for not as the team are back in the relegation zone. The Swans’ midfielder is averaging 2.25 points per game over the last four Swansea matches. The team have lost three and drawn one in that time.
Kyle Walker – Tottenham
Total FPL points: 128; GW 32: 0 points
Tottenham defender Kyle Walker did not play for the second time in three matches for Spurs. Fantasy managers have responded by selling Walker from their teams. When he has been in the XI, Walker hasn’t been very good lately. In the last three matches Walker has played, he is averaging just 1.33 points per game. Sell him if you have him.
Michail Antonio – West Ham
Total FPL points: 132; GW 32: 1 points
Michail Antonio has won over a lot of fantasy managers this season. But the West Ham midfielder should be on everyone’s sell list now. Antonio is fighting a hamstring injury and he has only played a half or less in his last two Premier League games; tallying two points combined in those matches.
The problem with Antonio is his best games really stand out and managers draft him in to their teams. Yet, those top shelf games are few and very far between.
