Everton Line Up replacement for Romelu Lukaku with Nicolai Jorgensen

Everton are bracing themselves for the expected sale of last season’s top scorer Romelu Lukaku to Chelsea. The team are interested in signing Feyenoord’s Danish international striker Nicolai Jorgensen, who has caught the eye of Everton manager Ronald Koeman with his efforts last season, scoring 25 goals and assisting 17 times also.

The Toffees will want to replace Lukaku quickly to appease their fans, frustrated by the continued losses of their top quality players to rival Premier League teams. Jorgensen, 25, is seen to be the ideal replacement for Lukaku. Although he may cost in the region of £20 million, it will represent good business for the Merseyside club, who are expecting Chelsea to pay around £80m for their Belgian international.

Koeman also looks set to land highly-rated Burnley defender Michael Keane in a deal expected to be in the region of £25m. Keane will partner club captain Phil Jagielka at the heart of the Everton back line. Jagielka is expected to commit his future to the club.

After signing goalkeeper Jordan Pickford from Sunderland, who mightily impressed in the recent English U-21 European Championship campaign and having brought in attacking midfielder Davy Klaassen from Ajax, fans at Goodison Park will be looking forward to the 2017-18 campaign. Everton will look to improve on their seventh placed finish of last season.
