According to the Liverpool ECHO, Liverpool have agreed a transfer deal with Arsenal to sign winger Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain for £35 million.
Arsenal had rejected a previous approach from Chelsea for the same amount, and will now sell the player to Liverpool.
The ECHO has reported Oxlade-Chamberlain will undergo a medical as he is ready to put pen to paper on a deal. Oxlade-Chamberlain is currently with the England national team, but is expected to sign his Liverpool contract ahead of the team leaving England on Thursday for Malta.
The Reds matched the offer previously made by Chelsea, which was quickly accepted by Arsenal. The Gunners seem far more happy to sell Oxlade-Chamberlain to Liverpool than their London rivals.
The winger could be one of three players that may leave the Emirates this summer. Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez could still be on their way out of the club. Both are out of contract next summer.
Oxlade-Chamberlain’s contract was set to expire in 2018, and he was prepared to leave the club for free. However, Arsenal have sold the winger to ensure they received something for him.
According to all reports, Arsenal are prepared to let Ozil and Sanchez leave for free next summer.
